The Ten North's approach to collecting is unique in its embodying and enacting Black memory principles. It serves as a locus of memory, a landmark around which past events structure present memory. This distinctive approach provides an alternative model, opera- tionalizing a process that offers an architecture of memory and a metonymic model for consciousness. Within this model, historical facts are selectively preserved and positioned to enable renewal.
